Handbag Heroes: Polo Share Pots

Polos really hit their peak in my childhood, with gummy, citrus, berry, and butterscotch varieties available in my corner shop. There were even giant plastic Polos filled with teeny tiny Polos in either mint or orange, and even the classic mints were fun, with bright blue specks that flew off the shelves when those pesky scientists discovered that the E numbers weren't so hot for our health.

It's safe to say that as I've grown up, Polo have too, and now focus on fresh, functional mints. I've been trying their share pots, and honestly, I've been more encouraged to enjoy the Polos and freshen my breath throughout the day. Available in regular or strong, both varieties have a kick, and are free from sugar. This means that they stimulate saliva without it rinsing sugar around your mouth and risking decay, and they're approved by dentists.

Another bonus of being sugar free is that they can be consumed by people with diabetes, and the elderly people I work with were more than happy to test them out! I gave the polos as little quiz prizes, and everyone was able to enjoy the clean, fresh feeling.

I definitely prefer the pot over the traditional tubes, as they didn't get lost in the depths of my bag or car, and I felt that the Polos stayed cleaner and fresher. However, the pots aren't great value. I saw them in ASDA for £1.50, whereas a tube was 68p. There are 2 packets of Polos per pot, so for the good of the planet and my purse, I will buy tubes and refill.

I must admit that I miss the fun flavours I remember from growing up, but Polo is still the brand I turn to for breath freshening mints. Tic Tacs are too small, Trebor are too strong, and chewing gum is essentially plastic. Without wanting to copy Goldilocks, Polos are just right!
