Friday Five: Chick Flicks

Do you always struggle to decide what to watch? Well, me and Jessi from Jessi Lou Blog have teamed up to deliver five of our favourite films for a night in with your pals (or the Ben and Jerry's). Of course, you don't have to be a chick to enjoy these flicks, and we'd both love to know what films make your top five.

Aquamarine
Okay, so Angus Thongs may have had that iconic olive costume, but did it have Jojo and a mermaid? No, it had Peter Dyer's weird 70s haircut.

Sisters
This is not one for a teen sleepover, the naughty language and cheeky content are definitely more suited to a wine night after your working week, or watching with your own sister. I've watched this at least 5 times and nearly wet myself from laughing so hard on every occasion!

Wild Child
Not just a favourite chick flick, but one of my favourites full stop. When I watched it as a teen I didn't feel like the script was trying to be 'down with the kids', and when I watch it as an adult I can still appreciate that the storyline is so much more than a twee teen romance. I still secretly want a Yorkshire terrier jumper to match Poppy's.

Bend It Like Beckham
Sadly, I feel that this film often gets overlooked and forgotten nowadays, but in my humble opinion, it's a banger. The costumes conjure up serious early 2000s nostalgia, which is always fun, and there's a hefty dose of girl power in the storyline, as Jess fights to become a footballer, with Keira Knightley by her side. This one also gets points for a bit of much needed diversity, with cast, crew and storyline from the Asian community.

Spice World
This film put the fear of God into me as a kid. The spy rising from the loo in the mansion was the subject of my childhood nightmares, but I'd still diligently rewind the tape and watch again. It's packed full of cheese but does actually have a decent storyline for a band movie, and obviously the costumes and songs are Spice-tastic.

Make sure to check out Jessi's top picks and let us know your favourites!
